The impact of knife crime on a family from Nuneaton

Tom Ellis was 25 when he died from single stab wound in June 2024. He was with his girlfriend and her family in Nuneaton following a day out in Birmingham.

Following an altercation with a group on boys he was stabbed in the chest.

A 16-year-old boy was later convicted of his murder and sentenced to life imprisonment.

Tom’s death has had a devastating and lasting impact on those who knew and loved him. His sister, Evie, and his dad, Chris, have chosen to share their story to highlight the real-life consequences of knife crime — not just for victims, but for families, friends and entire communities.

By speaking out, they hope to encourage others to think twice about carrying a knife. They also want to remind people that if they are worried about someone carrying a weapon, speaking up and reporting concerns could help prevent further tragedy.
